In this episode

  • Itay is back for season two, and within one page refresh he diagnosed the whole site: those skeleton loaders mean Dataford runs on client side JavaScript.
  • We disabled JavaScript live on air and watched the entire site vanish into a blank page, which is exactly what some AI agents may be seeing.
  • Dataford's traffic chart is a rocket, but only about 820 of the thousands of pages in its sitemap actually rank, the classic shape of a programmatic spike before a crash.
  • The blurred premium content that drives their signups is fully readable by Google, putting them one crawler mood swing away from a hidden content problem.
  • We found their keyword mapping upside down: the Ramp interview process query ranks with a software engineer page while the company pillar pages rank for nothing.

Key findings

  • The site is JavaScript first with skeleton placeholders on every load, and turning off JavaScript leaves a blank page, a real risk for search engines and AI agents.
  • Guide content is blurred for users but exposed to Google in full, which falls under hidden content and could be read as manipulation at scale.
  • Company pillar pages rank for nothing while role pages cannibalize each other, so queries like Ramp interview process land searchers on the wrong role.
  • Only around 820 pages rank out of a sitemap holding thousands, roughly one percent, on a traffic spike that looks primed to fall.
  • The backlink profile is mostly spam: DR 10, close to a thousand referring domains, and only about 37 that survive a best links filter.

Top action items

  • 1Move to server side rendering so Google and AI agents get real content instead of a skeleton.
  • 2Rework the keyword mapping: give every company a proper interview process page and add generic role guides so pages stop fighting each other.
  • 3Make each programmatic page unique by analyzing your own data into insights nobody else has.
  • 4Scale legitimate outreach per vertical, chasing links like the women in big data one instead of the spam that fills the profile now.

What we learned (steal these)

  • If your page shows a skeleton before the content on refresh, assume search engines and AI agents might be seeing the skeleton. Test with JavaScript off.
  • Programmatic SEO is not a black hat tactic, but it is only sustainable when every page delivers unique value and maps to the right keyword.
  • A traffic spike on a weak, spammy link profile is a warning, not a win. Strong programmatic plays need real authority underneath them.
