In this episode

  • Round two of the Grand Hall Roast with monday.com: five audience sites, zero prep, and a popup that attacked us before we finished reading a single headline.
  • ProShip calls itself the last shipping software you will ever need, then quietly indexes its entire blog twice under two different URLs.
  • A credit union with 43K monthly organic clicks turned out to be riding one topic: half its traffic comes from payday loan keywords, and its checking page H1 is just the word Checking.
  • A Toronto landscaping company almost survived the roast with rankings in 477 People Also Ask boxes, until we found the walls of text nobody is reading.
  • We finished with Amish shed builders publishing duplicate blog posts and selling 110,000 dollar barns through a shopping cart nobody should be using.

Key findings

  • ProShip's blog is indexed under two URL paths at once, resources slash blog and blog, creating sitewide duplicate content that may explain its page count decline.
  • ProShip's first tagged heading is an H5 and the page carries multiple H1s used purely for visual styling.
  • All In Credit Union has no canonical tags, location pages that are little more than an address, and around half its organic traffic riding on payday loan keywords.
  • Action Home Services ranks number two for landscaping Brampton and sits in hundreds of People Also Ask results, but its pages drown visitors in generic text with no conversion focus and an inconsistent URL structure.
  • Signature Builders published the same blog post twice under different URLs and its internal links point to non canonical versions, forcing redirects that leak link value.

Top action items

  • 1Redirect the duplicated blog path so every post lives at exactly one URL.
  • 2Fix your H1s so each page has one, and make it the actual topic of the page, not a single word like Checking.
  • 3Trim the verbose location pages and rebuild them around conversion, since visitors came to hire you, not to read.
  • 4Point every internal link at the final canonical URL, trailing slash included, so you stop leaking authority through redirects.

What we learned (steal these)

  • Headers are structure, not styling. The moment you tag text as H1 to make it big, you are lying to Google about what your page is about.
  • Big traffic numbers can hide a fragile business. Check what keywords the traffic actually comes from before you celebrate.
  • Design for the audience that pays. A therapy site styled for kids still has to convince the parents doing the searching.
